Why the name Coco Delay? That's a fun story. There is a little game where you take the name of your first pet and combine it with the name of your first street. The combination of the two becomes your 'dancer' name. Our poodle was Coco and I lived on Delay Ave.
As a child, my mother taught me how to make little folded boxes from old Christmas cards. Thus began my love of paper and I have been passionate about paper art and design ever since.
When creating Coco Delay designs, I fold, roll and manipulate all types of paper from around the world but my favorite is Nepalese lokta paper for its vivid colors and malleability. My designs are durable (non-toxic sealant), comfortable and lightweight.
The most gratifying and surprising gift of the creative process for me is evolution. This is best expressed by Picasso: "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." My day begins with meditation and ends in wonderment and inspiration.
I hope you like Coco Delay designs as much as I enjoy creating them! -Marti
